Royal Wedding Recap

So I wasn't at the actual ceremony, but I was soaking up the buzz in London this weekend. It was a Royal Fashion Extravaganza to say the least. Because I'm originally from America, I am still trying to adjust to all the " hats" on the heads of every woman at the ceremony. I gather that it must be a tradition as well as a fashion statement. Some were nice, but some were just weird. Usually I'm all for wearing art, but when it's positioned so close to the face, I lose the woman all together. I honestly can't remember what a single one of their faces looked like. I was too distracted by the thing on her head. Enough of that, hopefully I will get used to it. I have a feeling that is not going out of style anytime soon.

I thought all of the dresses were amazing, except Liz's. I'm just not a fan of yellow dresses. I think it looks like a joke, unlike Red or Green which can really work well.

Kates dress number 1 was stunning!! It absolutely took my breath away. She looked like the fairytale princess we all envisioned growing up, and it couldn't have fit her style and body more perfectly.
Dress number 2 for the afters was, I thought, just as exquisite. Maybe when you are that beautiful, everything looks stunning on.

Faces looked fresh. No strong statements were made, which I think is s little boring, but it is a royal wedding after all.
Kate did her own makeup, which i found very odd. I thought she would have someone who was an expert on how makeup photographs. Given that every camera in the world was directed on her face.
But then again, when you are that beautiful, you don't need a makeup expert.

Beautiful girl. Beautiful dress. Beautiful day.

The Royal Wedding

If you guys are anything like me, then you are facinated with the Royal Wedding taking place this coming weekend.  I'm so extied that I get to be there to soak up the atmosphere.  It's going to be mental!!
Kate Middleton is so beautiful, so she won't need a ton of makeup.  But what is makeup measured by Princess standards??
I would imagine that it's a combination of a few different influences.
Classic- Becuase the royal wedding and all of the tradition attached to the event, I would imagine Kate's makeup for the wedding is going to be very classic.
Ellegant- This goes without saying.  I mean,  what is meant to be more elegant and graceful than a princess, maybe than a prima ballerina?
Trendy- Regardless if Kate paints balloons on her face, or shaves her head,  It will become the latest trend.  Just part of how celebrity works. I'd imagine if she does dare to venture out a little from safe bridal makeup, that there will be a huge rise in that particular trend. (heavy liner, loads of blush, red lips)
I'd love to see her with a stunning deep crimson lip, and contemporary bridal up style.  Bring back the glam!!  The 70's had it right, If you're going to wear makeup, WEAR IT!!  I'm growing very tired of the J-Lo, Kim Kardashian, barely there looks.  It's just so boring.  Save that for the runway, when you don't want to distract from the clothing.
3D Deep Red Lips
Something simple like this would pull focus to her face and also the amazing earings she will most likely be adorning that day.  This look would also allow for a veil or modern bridal head piece.

the YSL TOUCHE ELCAT

To Conceal or to Highlight?  That is the question.
YSL markets this product as a concealing highlighter, not to be confused with a regular old concealer.
This product is quite pricy as well, for the amount you'd need to use of it daily.  And it comes packaged like a stick of gold, completely covering the amount of product actually inside.
I personally dont like the TOUCHE ECLAT.
I feel I achieve an even better highlight with a cream shaddow or semi-shimmery powder/shaddow similar to the shade of skin.
The most common misconception is that it can be used under the eye.  However, at most, it should be used in the inside corner of the eye and other places on the face you would normally highlight. (cheekbones, center of nose, cupid's bow)

So really, it's just about placement.  Have a separate concealer for under the eyes and spots, or else you will just end up highlighting them even further.  And who wants that??!!
Not Dublin Makeup Man :)

Skincare for Men

I have been using this range for more than 10 years now.  It works for me, and I have a feeling it might for you other men out there too.  Nivea has some great cleasers, exfoliators, and face lotions.  If I had to pick one of them for a ''must have" it's definitely the Nivea for Men Daily Exfoliating Face Wash.
It preps the face perfectly for shaving by gently scrubbing dead skin cells off, clenses deep, and contains vitamin E to condition your skin.  I don't go anywhere without this product, and I have been getting compliments on my skin for some time now!!

Male Makeup

For a more polished look, finish up with a little lip balm that is not shiny.
Here's a good one.
After that, if you like, you can dab a tiny tiny bit of vaseline across your cheekbones and down the nose for that natural skin finish that is not to powdered looking.
