Male Makeup

After you have applied a little foundation, or you can skip that all together if you have great skin already, apply a little bronzer only where the sun would naturally hit your face.  Aross the forehead, down the nose, and across the top of your cheekbones.  Bronzer can look really false and heavy, so use a light touch, and try not to look as if you are of another race. :)
This is going to give you a slightly golden brown look, and also help to set your foundation as well.
Here is a very affordable brozer available in most drug stores.  Make sure however you get the one that says "Matte"
Men usually look silly with shimmer on their face.  Usually. :)

You can apply this with any old cheap powder brush that you can find in your local drug store.

Male Makeup Foundation

I think that MAC Face and Body Foundation is perfect for men, because it has a super light coverage, but can still be built up for more problematic skin.  It's water based, so it's going to moisterize and not feel heavy at all.  I personally wear this whenever I go for interviews, and the ocasional night out.  I feels great and looks great as well!! Experiment with how much is enough for you, and if you get it right (along with having the right shade as well) it we be unnocticable!!

You can either apply this with a regular makeup sponge...

or you can invest a little more on a brush like the MAC 187.

Male Makeup Dublin Ireland

This is always an interesting subject to talk about, and I thought that since I am male, I could give a different opinion on the subject.  Male makeup is becoming slowly, but increasingly popular.  The age of  the "metrosexual" (men who enjoy a bit of grooming, fashion, and yes, even a little beauty product) has been well underway for many years now.  I personally think that is was a long time coming.  To me, it's like history repeating itself again.  Just like women's trends like colors, eyebrow shapes, etc men seem to be resorting back to a time when males wanted to look their best, and paid good money to do so as well.  Cosmetics and fashions were a status symbol for men then just like it is for some women today.  Years and years ago, men wore makeup and wigs daily!!!  Now, let's not jump the gun though. I personally wouldn't like to see the return of powdered wigs and pale white faces, but I definitely would like to see more even complexions from one man to another.
I get the feeling though, that women in general wouldn't be overly exited about the idea of sharing their makeup bag with the boyfriend.  That is unless Brad and Angelina did it, but that's a whole other blog post in itself.

I personally have 2 opionions when it comes to the overall look for male makeup.
It's similar to that of the female makeup look regarding the skin.
1.  That it shouldn't be caked on!!  There is nothing worse, well all know.  I like for male makeup to be barely there.  Baby steps.
2. Polished!! Just like we makeup artist generally use contouring on women to make their features appear more rounded, I like contouring for a man to excentuate angles and square like qualities of his face.  Usually the most attractive male faces are the ones that are very strong and angular.

Over the next few post, I'm going to share some of my favorite products that I think are fantastic for men.

Favorites

Who are your favorite makeup artists? Dublin has some pretty great makeup artists. I don't really have favorites, as I like to draw inspiration from them all. It's always interesting to me what choices other makeup artists make. Makes me think about my own choices a liitle more. Being creative, and being free to make whatever decisions you want is the best thing about being a makeup artist!!

New Makeup Corrector Pen

I think this is such a great product for those who are on the go and don't carry cotton buds around with them.  I mean,... who does? (besides us makeup artists) :)
It's in the form of a pen, so it's going to be much easier to attack the problem than say, a tissue would be.
This is definitely a must have for any special event (wedding, night out, hen party, etc)
Only thing is, be careful not to over correct, or you might remove your foundation/concealer as well!! Then you might have another problem on your hands alltogether.

MAC (Makeup Art Cosmetics)

Ok. I'm going to go ahead and get my rant about MAC out of the way. As you will notice from time to time by my blog posts, I am a huge fan. I know this product. I trust this product.

10 Things I Love About MAC:

1. I love the way they have a number system for shades of foundations, concealers, and powders. (NC 20, NW 30, etc)
This makes it much easier for the artist as well as the consumer. With this system, I can purchase 5 types of foundation in the same exact shade!! Also, when I'm mixing foundation I am going by numbers and not names like Toasty Beige or Sandy Beige. Such a time saver!!

2. I love the amount of eye shadows that are available. Some might say, "why would you need all those shades??"
But it's more about the variety of finishes on the shades. (matte, satin, velux pearl, etc)

3. I love the packaging. It's sturdy, sleek, and isn't overly eye-catching. (as not to suggest that it might be compensating for the product inside)

4. I love the Viva Glam program, and that it promotes value of the quality of human life. What a great way to raise money for AIDS, and also a way for us MAC enthusiasts to collect limited edition items. Go pick up a tube or three today!! All of the profits go toward the MAC AIDS fund.

5. I love MAC Brushes!! They have everything an artist looks for. Quality of materials, durability, and great results. I also love how they make sets that are more affordable for the general public. The durability isn't quite the same because they aren't handmade like the others, but the results are equal!!

6. I love the creativity behind all the collections they release. They are always different, catchy, and most importantly relatable. I mean, who didn't watch Wonder Woman as a child?? I know I did. I loved me some Linda Carter. Lol.

7. I love that MAC caters to the needs of every person who wears makeup. Ranging from barely there coverages like MAC Face and Body Foundation, to the masking qualities of it's Full Coverage Foundation. Eyeshadows come in both subtle and screaming shades. Your lips can be more shades of pinks, reds, purples, and neaurals than you ever dreamed possible. Even offering mineral products for those who have jumped on that bandwagon.

8. I love that MAC employees are encouraged to play up their uniqueness. I think that's so important these days. Why CANT people have pink hair and green eyebrows??

9. I love that MAC products are long wearing and durable when applied correctly. And don't even get me started on the Pro Longwear line. Not a touchup in sight!! Magic must be high on the ingredients list. Lol.

10. I love that MAC products sell themselves. You won't see emplyees bothering customers, shoving product down their throat. When it's a good thing, it's a good thing.

Obviously I could continue, but I imagine that even if you have gotten this far reading this, you are probably tired.
